Synopsis:
Ti is a poor father who works all day, everyday at a construction site to make sure his son Dicky Chow can attend an elite private school. Despite his father’s good intentions to give his son the opportunities he never had, Dicky, with his dirty and tattered clothes and none of the “cool” toys, stands out from his schoolmates like a sore thumb. Ti can’t afford to buy Dicky any expensive toys and goes to the best place he knows to get new stuff for Dicky--the junk yard! While out “shopping” for a new toy for his son,
Ti finds a mysterious orb and brings it home for Dicky to play with. To his surprise and disbelief, the orb reveals itself to Dicky as a bizarre “pet” with extraordinary powers. Armed with his “CJ7” Dicky seizes this chance to overcome his poor background and shabby clothes and impress his fellow schoolmates for the first time in his life. But CJ7 has other ideas and when Dicky brings it to class, chaos ensues.
Black and White is a suicide bomber at the Box Office
Last week Friday release Black and White gives us info about quite a few bombs, - how to tame a suicide bomber and how to sit through a movie, which will eventually bomb at the box office. Its time to relieve Subhash Ghai of the “Showman” tag and award him with a ” No Show ” tag. And its high time for him to step down from the director’s seat, after giving a hat trick of bombs- Yaadein, Kisna and now Black & White (which can instill suicidal tendencies amongst audiences for sitting through them) and just stick to being a producer.
There is nothing white about this movie as everything is black except for the performances by Anil Kapoor, Anurag Sinha and Shefali Shah. Couple of years back we saw Amir Khan-the terrorist disguised as a flirty guide, but being a perfectionist he made it look real. Now come back to B & W guys, we have our Anurag Sinha as Numair Qazi- Fidayeen from an Afghan terror camp, a hardcore terrorist with a heart of stone, comes to Delhi on a mission. A mission to blow up the Red Fort on August 15- Hah! As if it was possible for this guy to do it single handedly, and I guess there is something called security too, Mr. Ghai thinks we are dumb enough to take it??
But then our quiet and grim terrorist must have seen the famous movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, because he heads straight to Chandni Chowk, saare Delhi mein Chowk hi mila tha?? Our stone cold terrorist is given aasra by a wise poet (Habib Tanvir) in Chandni Chowk, our Afghani hunk does his homework well and passes himself as a victim of Gujarat riots justifying his hatred towards disbelievers. Neighbors to our poet are Rajan Mathur ( Anil Kapoor ), an Urdu professor at Delhi university and his red-hot-chili-pepper social activist wife ( Shefali Shah-she is superb). Now our Professor Rajan is a believer of secularism, and makes no stone unturned to bring peace amongst Hindus and Muslims of Chandni Chowk, so he is a part time peacemaker.
The story moves forward, as our suicide bomber bumps into our peacemaker couple, who welcome him into their own family, loving, caring and giving happiness to him (which he never got back home), as they would have given to their own son. Now this results in conflicts in Numair’s mind, and we are left to wonder which part of the mind he will eventually listen to. Great and sensitive story we can say, but it fails miserably to keep the audience gripped to their seats- Chalo yaar jaldi suicide bombing kario, I cant sit through this crap, is what the audience starts to think.
Naah! Numair is not the real suicide bomber of the movie it’s the screenplay. Mr Ghai ruins the climax of the movie, making it unreal and unconvincing, even a child with a lollipop in his mouth will laugh at it. The only way to understand the ending is to rip off the main plug of your brain or you can become Paris Hilton, only if you really want to.
Anurag Sinha, does a good job as a debutant, with few dialogues to mouth, he manages to express through his eyes and body. Anil Kapoor acts convincing and composed. Shefali Shah is as usual great. Aditi Sharma-huh does she deserve a mention, I wonder how did she won that superstar reality show. Habib Tanvir has a great screen presence. The background score of the movie is good,and the songs are bad. Surely Mr Ghai deserves a pat on his back, for venturing into this dangerous territory, the thought and possibility that terrorists can be reformed makes the viewer bound to think about it.
But the whole package is a real disappointment, with nothing exciting and gripping. The bad movie at the end of the day overshadows the brilliant performances by the cast. We can say Black and White is a suicide bomber at the Box Office.

The video begins with a scenario where the nerdy character played by actor Jack McBryer came by Carey's house only to be surprised by what he sees. Carey, only in black bra, hot pants, stockings and a bathrobe opened the door for him and led the way inside her mansion.
New comedy film featuring Sacha Baron Cohen's 'Bruno'
It has been said that the new comedy film featuring Sacha Baron Cohen's another alter ego from his "Ali G Show", "Bruno" has reportedly begun its shooting. According to Defamer.com, the Universal Pictures' movie slated for late 2008 release has been seen taking its principal photography in Los Angeles.
The site reports that an eyewitness has seen the British comedian shooting for the film at On Your Marks Studio in Sherman Oaks on last Thursday, February 21. The source said, "I saw Sacha Baron Cohen doing filming as Bruno (gay Austrian) at On Your Marks Studio in Sherman Oaks on Feb. 21st. "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy,
Good news coming from Walt Disney. According to Cinematical, the mouse house have been planning to release the fourth installment of its most successful "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" sometime in 2011.
Though many reports are conflicting on how the studio get on the fourth film, many favor that the fourth film will focus solely on the renowned Captain Jack Sparrow. Further, it was said that as the studio is trying to downsize the film's budget, the fourth installment would probably have a lighter take on the special effects.

Controversial actress Anne Heche has been set to star alongside Ashton Kutcher in upcoming comedy "Spread". According to Hollywood Reporter, the co-star of Harrison Ford in "Six Days Seven Nights" has agreed to play in the movie replacing its original cast Jennifer Jason Leigh.
The former lover of comedienne Ellen DeGeneres is said to be filling the leading role Leigh left on February 21 for an alleged pregnancy. This latest news was opposite to the earlier story that the studio producing the film has prepared Laura Linney as Leigh's replacer.

The star of "The Shaggy Dog" Tim Allen is reportedly going to take a new role in his new film as he has been set to be "Crazy on the Outside" helmer. After years acting in front of the camera, the 54-year-old actor is finally going to step behind the camera to direct the indie adult comedy film.
Aside from directing the project, the headliner of "The Santa Clause" franchise will still act for the film scheduled to start shooting sometime in March in Los Angeles. Till about a few years back, whenever there used to be a mention of cricket, there was just one name that popped up, Sachin Tendulkar. But this equation changed a couple of years back with the entry of the most 'unsuspected' player (off-field).
She was none other than Mandira Bedi, the original 'Shanti' of the Tellyland. She made national headlines with her anchoring of cricket shows, which was followed by a series of many others. She is back with the much awaited Rakesh Roshan's comedy flick Krazzy 4.
She said "It's a different kind of concept that Bollywood is going to witness. Even though I am not acting in the film, I am playing an 'anchor' in the film. In the sense, I play a visiting psychiatrist, who does her bit by introducing the four lead characters (Irrfan, Suresh, Rajpal and Arshad) by interviewing them."
On the professional front, besides Krazzy 4, Mandira is looking forward to her next project Mumbai Chakachak, wherein she plays the role of Anarkali, a character who believes in every possible social cause and eventually joins Rahul Bose.
On the personal front, she said that her husband Raj Kaushal (who was not keeping well for some time) is fine now and is working on a film project, details of which will be announced shortly.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are India's answer to Victoria and David Beckham - they are on their way to becoming 2008's hottest power duo with companies approaching them for joint endorsements at a mind-boggling rate of Rs 10 crore per ad.
Says a source close to the actress, "Kareena has been working out to develop a body type like Victoria Beckham, so that she can model and carry off any product in the world. Victoria is known as the best clotheshorse and together with David, she has launched perfumes, a jeans line and other endorsements.
Their fees skyrocket every passing year. Now Saif and Kareena are being offered a whopping 10 crore to do ads together.
Every ad company is pitching for them. Saif's endorsement manager, Globosport and Kareena's manager, Matrix have been offered more than five endorsements offers together. Shweta of Matrix says, "I can't comment on the amount as that is against client confidentiality; but yes, a lot of brands have approached us for Kareena and Saif's joint ads. We are looking at categories where both can work together.

With more dancing and less Channing Tatum than the original, "Step Up 2 the Streets" offers the illusion of edgier fare than "High School Musical," but uses much the same formula to separate youngsters from their allowance. Rather than mixing classical and modern styles the way "Step Up" did, this hip-hop-powered sequel is all about new moves, which should keep the kids coming back after the pic's initial Valentine's Day crush.
Tomboy Andie (Briana Evigan) belongs to an elite inner-city dance crew called the 410 whose latest prank -- invading a subway car posing as muggers and staging an inmpromptu dance show for bewildered passengers -- have gotten its members labeled delinquents by the Baltimore media.
Watching reports of the 410's "public disturbances" on TV that night, Andie's guardian (Sonja Sohn, the pic's only connection to HBO's gritty, Baltimore-based "The Wire") threatens to send the unruly orphan to Texas. As in the first film, the wayward teen lands herself at the Maryland School of the Arts, where her street-dancing style clashes with the institution's conservative methods.
By this point, it's clear the strait-laced dance academy is the sequel's only tie to the original, but fans needn't take down their Tatum pinups just yet. The hunky "Step Up" star returns long enough to make audiences swoon anew, challenging Andie to a dance-off. If she wins, the movie's over and everybody can go home. But if he wins, she agrees to take MSA seriously and attend classes without question.

But even this display gives only the faintest indication of the incredible dancing in store. Washington, Feb 25 (ANI): They might insist on being called as friends, but Rihanna and Chris Brown's closeness shows that something else is brewing between the two.
On Feb 10 at Grammys after-party, Chris Brown had said that he and the 'Umbrella' hitmaker were just friends.
"We're just friends... We hang out," Us magazine quoted him, as saying then.
But two days later they were spotted walking hand-in-hand into a private room at L.A. hot spot Les Deux to celebrate Rihanna's 20th birthday party.
After the crowd - including guests Kanye West and Wilmer Valderrama - belted out "Happy Birthday," a witness revealed that Brown grabbed her and then kissed her.
"Chris stood up and serenaded her with his own version, and she was beaming. He grabbed her when the song was over and kissed her," the source said.
The source added that aside from Brown's friendly dance-off with Valderrama that night, he and Rihanna "constantly had their hands all over each other and were rarely apart." (ANI)
MAMI film fest 140 films & 45 countries to participate
Mumbai, Feb 23 (IANS) As many as 140 films from 45 countries, a special short film segment and a retrospective of Ritwik Ghatak's works - the upcoming edition of Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image's (MAMI) International Film Festival has all this and more in store for cine buffs.
Shyam Benegal, chairman of MAMI, announced here Saturday that the 10th edition of the film festival is scheduled for March 6-13.
The festival will confer the Global Lifetime Achievement Award to renowned Spanish director Carlos Saura for his contribution to world cinema.
Saura, along with his wife and a five-member Spanish delegation, is expected to attend the award ceremony in Mumbai. A panel of filmmakers from Mexico, France and several other European countries are also slated to attend the event, a statement by MAMI said.
MAMI has also introduced a new five-minute digital film competition called 'Dimensions Mumbai' for the city's youth below 25 years. The best entry will win a cash prize of Rs.150,000.
The contest aims to nurture budding talent and provide a platform to a new generation of filmmakers.
Presented by Reliance Big Entertainment of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, the weeklong festival will see the screening of 140 films from 45 countries in Adlabs Wadala, Metro Adlabs and Cinemax Versova.
On the awards night, which will mark the end of the extravaganza, actors Dharmendra and Rishi Kapoor, writers Gulzar and Hitendra Ghosh will be felicitated for their contributions to the Indian film industry.
Evergreen actor Dev Anand will preside over the closing ceremony as the chief guest and will present the awards.
The gala night will screen the best Indian films, selected by a special five-member international jury, and Japanese film 'The Mourning Forest'. The movie won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007.
There will also be a retrospective of the works of Ritwik Ghatak and Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda.
The festival will see the Asian premiere of Wajda's 'Katyn', nominated for an Oscar this year in the foreign film category.
Another highlight of the fest is Italian silent film 'Pinocchio' (1911), restored by Cineteca, that will be screened with live music.
Audiences will also get to see 'To Each of His Own Cinema', made by 35 international directors to celebrate 60 years of the Cannes Festival.
Sherlyn Chopra is going to set the Kannada
Bollywood bombshell and Outrageous bikini babe Sherlyn Chopra is going to set the Kannada and southern film industry on fire. Other established southern sirens had better watch out, for Sherlyn is determined to leave no stone unturned to give them a run for their money.
"When I do something I give it my hundred per cent. I will do what ever it takes to be the best and make an impression in Tollywood," says a fiery Sherlyn when asked how she would compete with the existing lot. Sherlyn is known for her uncanny ability to look sexy in anything she wears, whether it's a skirt or jeans or her trade mark G-strings.
According to reliable sources, Sherlyn Chopra will be seen gyrating to a steaming hot item number in the Kannada movie titled MADEHSHA starring Shivraj Kumar, son of Dr Raj Kumar. The lead heroine is not yet finalized, but sources said that Sherlyn was the most likely choice for the lead.
MADESHSHA is directed by Ravi Srivatsa and is produced by Govardhan Murthy. Sherlyn is expected to shoot the sizzling hot item number in Bangalore during the second or third week of March this year. The item song will be choreographed by Imran Sardhariya and is expected to be one of the most expensive productions ever made in the Kannada film industry.
Many other Bollywood actresses including Malaika Arora Khan and Sameera Reddy were approached for this item number, but Sherlyn Chopra won hands down for her Outrageous and wild, devil-may-dare image, curvaceous body and great dancing feet.
Sherlyn when contacted refused to deny or confirm the news. "My manager is talking to them, we are discussing certain issues, you can ask him if it's confirmed or not," was all that the sex bomb would say.
Insiders say that Sherlyn Chopra is being paid Rs 35 lakh for doing the item song. Apparently, the producer-director duo were so keen on having Sherlyn do the item number that they agreed to pay her the outrageous sum, even though other well-known girls in the industry were quoting only half of Sherlyn's price.
Her music video and album Outrageous was showcased to a standing ovation in Barcelona, Spain at the Global Mobile World Awards. Sherlyn is slated to be working on a couple of Hollywood projects as well.

DreamWorks have given horror film fans a treat as they released the restricted trailer of their new horror thriller movie "The Ruins". The red band video footage that lasts a bit over two minutes seems to be enough to give sample of the terror the characters are facing.
Begins with green canopy scenery, the trailer starts with a promise that the film will be terrifying. The compilations of the film's clips then bring the viewers to the depth of Mexican jungle where the leading characters experience horrifying incidents. Unlike the teaser that has been released earlier, this red band trailer is far darker and gloomier.
