Bhoomika excited about her new Telugu film titled ‘Maya Bazaar’

At first, I was not sure whether to take up the film or not, as I have not done such roles in Telugu earlier. However, producer Satyanarayana Garu convinced me to give the nod. I began liking it after reading the script a couple of times. It is not a love story but a fun film. I play the role of a sweet, simple and lively girl who loves helping others.

A glance into her sparkling eyes and her cute face is enough to makes guys go mad. Yes, Bhumika Chawla has become the darling of young hearts following her splendid performances in reel. She has left her footprints in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil films, and now set to make a mark in Punjabi films too. She is excited about her new Telugu film titled ‘Maya Bazaar’, where she acts with Raja. Now, she tells more about the film, her experiences and much more.

Do you feel comfortable working in the South?

I have a special attachment to the South, and maybe it is because I started my career here. People in the north asked me if I were doing a Madrasi film when I first stepped into films but I told them that I was working for a Telugu film, which is a different language. It was tough initially since the language was strange. I thought of returning back home on the fourth day of shooting but my mom convinced me to complete the project. At the end of the day, all the trouble vanished and my dream came true. Fame and fame came and there was no stopping since then.

How was your experience in Tamil films?

My Tamil debut film ‘Rojakootam’ is still close to my heart. We had lots of fun shooting for the film. I have no regrets though ‘Sillunu Oru Kathal’ failed, as I enjoyed working for it, and most importantly, people liked my character. It was great working with Surya and Jyothika. You know, Surya is such a humble man.

They try to kill Tulasi but Harsha falls a victim to their rivalry. Vasundhara takes her new born son and leaves Tulasi. And five years later Tulasi bumps into her.Why did Tulasi come back and what happens later is the rest of the story.

Highlights:
Despite a huge success rate in family dramas and romantic entertainers, Venkatesh always attempts action films now and then. This is one such attempt again and some what better. This one is a pure formula film with adequate dose of sentiment and action. Venky comes out with all round performance.
Nayanatara is okay and looks sexy in songs.
The film has every thing-Action,sentiment,romance&fun,With sentiment&action occupying the major share.Boyapati Seenu did a good job of blending action and sentiment perfectly.
Though comedy is less, it was quite entertaining.and adequate for the script. Jhansi as a realtor’s wife Kokapeta Aunty and Raghu Babu were good.
Paruchuri Brothers dialogues and Devisri Prasad’s music is okay.
Atulit(who acted as Venky’s son in this film)looked cute.

Tabu's Idhi Sangati has become a huge success

Exactly a decade after her last Telugu movie Aavida Maa Aavide, Tabu's latest offering Idhi Sangati has become a huge success.

The Hyderabad born actress is the star attraction of the film and some sensuous scenes have contributed to pulling in the crowd.

"Tabu is the USP of the film. Her role has all shades, emotions and mainly demanding comedy too. She also took it up as a challenge," said Chandra Siddarth, Director, Idhi Sangati.

Idhi Sangati is a low budget film in which Tabu plays a greedy housewife.

"Tabu has gone deep into the skin of the character. People perhaps have never seen her in this kind of a role," said Chandra Siddarth, Director, Idhi Sangati.

The year ahead is likely to be eventful for Tabu the 37-year-old star is currently shooting for her next Telugu film Pandurangadu and is also likely to star in Rajinikanth's next Telugu-Tamil bilingual venture Kuselan.

The film too has been made on a very huge budget. Apparently, the house set has been erected with Rs 1 crore and a set for a song has been put up with Rs 70 lakh.

Given that the music is already a rage, after the songs had been leaked on to the Net, there are high expectations from the film.

Film industry does strange things

The film industry does strange things to people. Many girls come to the industry with a fixed mindset. They will not expose, nor will they do kissing scenes etc. But after a few films, they slowly have a change of heart. Very few heroines stick to their original self-formed rules for long.

Kamalini Mukherjee is one such heroine. Like Sneha, she also came to the industry with the idea of doing only homely and family oriented roles. She acted in Anand and Godavari in this fashion. She wore only saris and salwar kameezes in all her films so far.

But Kamalini has now realized that her conservative approach will not take her far in Tollywood. In a bid to keep with the hot and sexy actors like Ileana, Charmy and Priyamani, Kamalaini now has no option but to accept glamorous roles and also do some bit if exposing.

She appeared in a skimpy costume for the audio launch function of her latest film 'Brahmanandam Drama Company'. The photographers tried to peep between her legs as they did in the cases of Tabu, Priyamani and Trisha.

Kamalini is also said to have done some bold exposing scenes in the film. We will have to wait for the release of the film to know more about this.

No Openings For Sneha!

Two new films were released this Friday. The first is 'Idi Sangathi' starring Tabu, Abbas, Raja and others. Chandra Siddhartha is the director. The director used some hot and spicy photos of Tabu in all the publicity designs. The poster showed Tabu in hot and revealing costumes. The film was also awarded 'A' certificate. This naturally led to good openings for the film. Tabu ensured that the opening day's collections were sizeable.

On the other hand Giribabu's 'Nee Sukhame Nee Koruthunna' starring Raja and Sneha opened very weakly. Sneha could not ensure good openings like Tabu.

Even Bhoomika managed to draw the crowds for her film 'Anasuya' and Charmy was a big draw for 'Manthra'. Unfortunately, Sneha's image as a homely girl, who does not like to expose has hit the film's openings considerably.

Krishna

Krishna (Ravi Teja) is a happy-go-lucky guy in Vijayawada. He falls in love at fight sight with Sandhya (Trisha) who visits from Hyderabad. Sandhya is the sister of Shinde (Sayaji Shinde) who is a popular builder and mafia man. Jakka (Mukul Dev) is another mafia don who wants to marry Sandhya against her wishes. The film is all about how Krishna puts an end to Jakka and marries Sandhya.

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is an old fashioned one. The screenplay of the film is good. VV Vinayak who proved himself as a good mass director strengthens his grip on comedy with this film. The way he created episodes for Brahmanandam are praise worthy and he made sure that there is no boring moment in the film.

Analysis: First half of the film is breezy with nice mix of action and comedy. The second half’s graph goes down a bit during the flashback episode and pre climax scenes. But the director brought back the film on track with interesting climax by blasting a couple of fully-loaded lorries. The plus point of the film are comedy by Brahmanandam and Ravi Teja. VV Vinayak who disappointed us with his last film Yogi can have a sigh of relief now. On a whole, Krishna (the power of Indrakeeladri) is a decent entertainer.

Pourudu - Telugu Movie

Bhai (Nassar) is a notrious mafia don in Hyderabad. Pandu (Suman) is his right hand. Ajay (Sumanth) is Pandu's son. Ajay is a studious guy who wants to become an IAS officer. He clears the civils examination too. Hussain (Subbaraju) is a cop whose mission is to eliminate the mafia gangs in Hyderabad. Though son and father, sharing great relationship Ajay and Pandu fall out due to difference of opinions. The rest of the story is all about how the system forces Ajay to tread the wrong path to do the right thing.

Story - screenplay - direction: The basic plot of the film has roots in Godfather where righteous son steps in the shoes of mafia man. Direction of the film is adequate. The screenplay should have been better. The director concentrated more on father-son relationship. The director should have had the hero getting into mafia outfit by interval time. By keeping it in the last 25 minutes, he diluted the content for entire first half and the half of the second half. Director conceived action sequences well.

Analysis: First half of the film is flat. The second half explores father-son relationship and action sequences. The last 25 minutes (where hero takes the revenge) part is interesting. The plus points in the film are fight sequences. On the flipside, the first half should have been made in a more interesting way. The comedy episodes were not properly handled. Though there are dialogues justifying the title Pourudu, it is a pure personal revenge story of a Koduku. On a whole, a better climax and good fight sequences make Pourudu an average flick.

Vaana - Telugu Movie review

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is very simple. One fails to understand why MS Raju remade a film with such simple story line. Screenplay of the film is inadequate. Narration is very slow. Characterization is inconsistent. There are some sparks in the direction. This film is mainly based on the feelings. Hence, it is very important to make the audiences feel the way director projected it on the screen. But when the theme of the film unappealing, it does not translate into good results.

Analysis: First half of the film is goes without much content. Second half is too lengthy and the climax is unappealing. The plus points of the film are cinematography and locations. The negative points are slow narration and characterizations. A film like Nuvvu Naaku Nachav with similar story line is made in an entertaining way. Vaana is an example of making a film the other way round. On a whole, Vaana is an unappealing film.

Swagatam

KK (Jagapati Babu) is a principled businessman who wants a perfect wife. He meets the match maker Vidya (Bhumika Chawla). Even while searching a right girl for KK, she herself falls in to love with him. And they get married and suddenly some incidents take place forcing KK to leave for the USA along with his daughter. There he meets Sailu (Anushka) who is distressed due to personal and financial problems. The rest of the story is all about the connection between KK and Sailu and what happened to Vidya.

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is little complicated and has a potential winner in it. The USA backdrop part of the film reminds us a bit of Kal Ho Na Ho. Car crash aspect seems to have been taken from 'An unfinished life'. Dasarath handled the budding love and relationship between Jagapati Babu and Bhumika in an entertaining and soulful way. But he could not get the thing right in the first half that handles with the depressed Anushka and enigmatic Jagapati Babu.

Analysis: First half of the film is very slow and mediocre. The flashback episode which almost spans for one hour in the second half is good. The plus points of the film are Jagapati Babu, Bhumika Chawla and the (entertainment + emotion in) flashback episode. The negative point is the first half. Jagapati Babu who is known as the successor of Sobhan Babu in attracting family crowds would not find it difficult to make the Swagatam film a minimum guarantee one.

Mr. Medhavi

Vishwak (Raja) is an orphan who is adapted by his school teacher. Later Vishwak becomes independent and takes care of himself. During this process, Vishwak becomes manipulative guy in order to succeed life. During his childhood, he happens to meet an NRI kid called Swetha who joins his school for a few days. They develop a close friendship. They happen to meet again after they grow up. The rest of the story is all about whether they fall in love or not.

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is simple and narration is linear. Mr. Medhavi who is an expert at giving love advices to everybody failing in his own case resembles us of Hitch. The director followed different narrative (like main leads narrating the story in Mr & Mrs Smith) in the film. Screenplay of the film is adequate and there is a nice twist towards the climax. Direction of the film is good. Neelakanta stuck to his own plot instead of diverting the attention in order to attracts the masses. However, the narration of the film is very slow and there are boring moments in the second half.

Analysis: The film starts with an interesting note. The kids episode is impressive. First half is decent. The second half has some dull moments, but the climax twist makes it up for sagging second half. The plus points of the film are casting, narrative style and clean concept. On the flipside, the second half should have been in a more interesting way. The way Raja is taught about relationships is good. Neelakanta should be appreciated for having guts to insert the ‘HR SWOT’ episode in the film which lasts for over 15 minutes. On a whole, Mr. Medhavi is a well intended and a decent film. This film will definitely appeal the ultra A class audiences. The commercial appeal for an average moviegoer is very much limited.

Ontari - Telugu Movie review

Vamsi (Gopichand) falls in love with Bujji (Bhavana) at the first sight. He feigns to be a CBI officer in order to get to know more about her. She also falls in love with him. A bad guy (Ajay) teases her and Vamsi insults him which results into an unforeseeable situation. The rest of the story is all about how Vamsi takes revenge on the band of baddies.

Gopichand: Gopichand is growing by leaps and bounds from film to film. He is excellent in the title role. He has such a supple body and it is helping him tremendously in dances. He is also cool at romantic episodes and family scenes. He excelled in fights department which is his core area.

Bhavana: Bhavana is very good in this film. She has what it takes to be a big heroine in Telugu film industry. The dubbing by Savita Reddy suited her very well. She looks good both in traditional and modern dresses. She can emote cute feelings and it is going to be an asset for her.

Others: Rajiv kanakala is impressive. Ajay and Asish Vidyardhi are good. Sunil’s comedy is alright. Raghubabu steals the show again though he has done those kinds of roles in many films. Sayaji Shinde did the role of sincere cop.

Nenu Meeku Telusa

The shooting of Manoj’s latest film Nenu Meeku Telusa? was started on 15th of this month at a set erected in Mumtaj House at Madhapur. Debutant director Ajay Sastri is shooting a vital scene of the film when idlebrain.com entered the sets to get our visitors something exclusive
About the set:
This set is the house of Aditya, played by Manchu Manoj. Art director Ravinder got a theme to the house by keeping the walls in white and the furniture mostly in orange color (sofa set in black). The walls sports cool posters of Manoj and a special Scarface poster of a dollar bill in which ‘Tony Montana’ signs on it under ‘I trust me’ caption. The vital tape recorder is placed near the bed and a note that goes like ‘orey item…’ is placed in front of the bed so that the hero could read it as soon as he wakes up.

Manoj Manchu (hero): Though I acted in three commercial films earlier, I consider Nenu Meeku Telusa as my debut film. I love acting in these kinds of films. The film is not a routine commercial film and there is lot of scope for histrionics. I want to prove myself with this film and create my own identity. Fortunately I have got very good and young team.

Sneha Ullal (heroine): I am already acting in a Telugu film in the direction of Karunakaran. That film is nearing completion. This is my second film in Telugu. It is the script that inspired me to sign this project. The entire team is amazing and I am enjoying my work here. I had problems picking Telugu dialogues up. But now I am getting used to it.

Riya Sen (heroine): This is my debut in Telugu. I had been approached by Telugu producers for the past 4 years and never accepted any project because I did not find the substance for my character in any of those films. This is the first Telugu script that impressed me. There is something for me in this film.

Ajay Sastri (director): I must say that I am impressed with the heroines. I anticipated lot of delay in work because I have two first timers in Telugu as heroines of my film. They made me realize on the sets how good they are at their profession. Manoj has been the driving force and pillar of support for this project to happen.

Ashok Raju (Executive producer): The current schedule ends by 29th of this month. The next schedule will take place at Sri Vidya Niketan college in Tirupati. The 3rd schedule will take place in a floor of AirTel building. We are planning to shoot the songs in April. Production work is going on smoothly as the young team is not minding working for a few extra hours to get the best output.

Director B.V.Ramana's Ontari

Ee Taram Films had an image among the audiences for bringing out successful films like ‘Neti Bharatam, Repati Pourulu’ and such kind of films. Till recently, the banner continued to bring out message-oriented films because the banner was founded by T Krishna, who had revolutionary thoughts. Even after his demise, his partner Pokuri Babu Rao continued to bring out films with good messages. As he too should change his mindset to suit the present trend, he started deviating from the path slightly to project Gopichand as hero. His film on the banner ‘Ranam’ was a big hit and earned good name and fame besides revenue to the banner. After some gap, again Gopichand is playing in Ee Taram Films banner as hero for ‘Ontari’ under the direction of BV Ramana.

Vamsi (Gopichand) is the third son of Muddu Krishna (Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao), who runs a cloth shop. Theirs is a happy family and he loves his family very much. Raghava (Rajiv Kanakala) is Vamsi’s best friend and is an MLA. Vamsi wants see him as a minister. Kanaka Mahalakshmi @ Bujji (Bhavana) is an orphan but has a kind heart. Vamsi loves Bujji at first sight. Vamsi introduces himself as a CBI officer and keeps meeting Bujji. Later, he reveals about his love. But Bujji did not accept the proposal. Once Panda (Ajay), brother of Lal Mahankali (Asish Vidyarthi), who was a local goon, teases Bujji and gets a sound warning from Vamsi. Mahankali kidnaps Bujji in vengeance and Panda rapes her, just before their engagement. Raghava helps Mahankali in regard, as he was lured with ministership by Mahankali. Raghava behaves like a true opportunistic politician and backstabs Vamsi. Bujji dies after the rape and Vamsi goes into coma. Though Vamsi recovers, he suffers a typical disease called visual hallucination, a part of schizophrenia and believes that Bujji was still with him. . rest of the film dealt with how he takes his revenge.
Gopichand had put up an excellent performance in the film. He showed good ease in action scenes as well as in song sequences. He appeared handsome at different shots. He built his body well and looked romantic in some scenes with the heroine. The most surprising point this time is that he stopped shouting at the villains. However, his usual style of giving warning continued. This time, the action scenes were choreographed in a stylistic way. Bhavana is extraordinary. She had excellent glamour and at the same time had good ability to perform. Even if the film is her debut project, she is here to stay and is very promising.
The performance of other artistes like Asish Vidyarthi, Ajay, Sayaji Shinde and Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao were routine, while Rajiv Kanakala played the role with negative touch with good ease. Sunil and Ali did justice to their roles in giving comedy.
