What’s a man without his vices? ShahRukh continues to puff his lungs out

ShahRukh Khan What’s a man without his vices? ShahRukh continues to puff his lungs out bollywoood hindi actor topstar mumbai actor

Star Wars: Aamir and Shah Rukh recently had a tiff with both actors claiming to be the Number 1 in Bollywood. They are at it again. Main number one, nahin main number one. Who, you ask? Who else but Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. The duo is back with their jovial banter staking claims to being Number 1. Given the year it’s been for them, we are tempted to weigh them on our own scales. Here’s a look at how they pitch against each other in a Shah Rukh — Aamir face off.

Abs: Shah Rukh Khan wowed us all with his six-pack last year. Who can forget him, baring his Greek god bare chest in Dard-e-Disco?

Certainly not Aamir Khan, who has decided to go two-up with no less than an eight-pack for his upcoming movie Gajini. Though we are sure he can carry it off, shall we leave the chocolate boy hottie role for Shah Rukh please?

Looks: This one goes to Aamir; the man makes change a great thing. From the spikey-haired dude of Dil Chahta Hai to the roadside slickster of Fanaa, the man has tried everything, even cross-dressing and dancing to a dhinchak number many eons ago.
And now the man’s going bald.

So what if Aamir danced with a school full of kids, revolutionised the way Indian schools look at dyslexia and is working to promote education, Shah Rukh is hosting Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? Shah Rukh’s first attempt at anything different is the long hair and pony tail he was seen sporting last year. As much as we like the urbane lover boy, we like adventure more and Aamir is definitely the more adventurous one.

Love: Okay so they’re both taken. But you can still love them, can’t you? And what’s more attractive than a man who loves pleasing his woman? Aamir who turned 43 recently could not stop gushing about his favourite gift. No, not diamonds, but a card made by his wife, Kiran. Was that an ‘awww’ we heard?

Shah Rukh on the other hand is the poster-boy for romance. His love and commitment for Gauri and the kids makes him the clear winner here.

Awards: Aamir’s taken Lagaan to the Oscars while Shah Rukh floundered with Paheli. However, award ceremonies in India are synonymous with SRK, especially if he’s hosting them. We love one’s antics and we respect the other’s ideals — sorry guys, this one’s a draw.

Kid appeal: So what if Aamir danced with a school full of kids, revolutionised the way Indian schools look at dyslexia and is working to promote education, Shah Rukh is hosting Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?

Having already done voice-overs for the Hindi translation of The Incredibles, Shah Rukh is all ready to don the cape of a Superman-like superhero for son Aryan. Tough call on this one too. Pass.

Vices: What’s a man without his vices? Hopefully, a hot and reformed rake. While Shah Rukh continues to puff his lungs out, Mr Mature, Aamir, has not only quit, but he openly spoke about his addiction and how difficult it was for him to quit. Now that’s what we like about a man, the ability to admit and conquer his weaknesses.

Kambakth Ishq the first Indian film to be shot within Universal Studios

Akshay Kumar Akshay Kumar Sajid Nadiadwala Universal Studios Hollywood news tollywood www.allthebollywoodactress.blogspot.com hindi actor bollywoodactress kollywoood google search yahoosearch blogsearch images wallpapers allthebollywoodactress allthebollywoodactress.blogspot.com

Mumbai, (IANS) After doing back-to-back comedies last year, it looks like Bollywood’s star Akshay Kumar is hell bent on making 2008 his year of actioners.

In producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s “Kambakth Ishq”, he plays a Hollywood stuntman and it will be shot in Universal Studios.

“This would be the first Indian film to be shot within Universal Studios. We’ve got the permission not only to shoot within the studio but also to use their logo. Akshay plays a stuntman from Universal Studios. We also had amazing superstars from Hollywood. We’re working out the legal aspects,” Nadiadwala told IANS.

Apart from that, Akshay will be seen in Nikhil Advani’s full on action flick “Chandni Chowk to China”.

“Kambakth Ishq” is to be shot in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and the producer has roped in a new director Sabir Khan to helm the film.

“It’ll also star 12-15 leading actors from Hollywood in various parts. It’s a candyfloss, ’safe’ film. We had to bring in an extra gloss in the backdrop. That’s why Hollywood.

“When I produced ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, it was the first beach film in Bollywood. After that we had dozens of beach films in Hindi. Likewise my ‘Jaan-e-Mann’ was the first romantic comedy with visual effects. While making full-on commercial films we need to change the backdrop.”

Nadiadwala agrees shooting “Kambakth Ishq” in Hollywood won’t be an easy task.

“It will be expensive, yes. We’ll have 40-50 crewmembers flying to LA. We’re thinking of chartering a flight from Mumbai. It’ll be more economical. Or maybe we should just buy a jet,” he joked.

This is Nadiadwala’s most ambitious film to date with a budget of Rs.600 million. Kareena Kapoor plays a brand model.

Why a new director for such a lavish film?

“Sabir Khan has grown up in front of me. He assisted in my production ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’. He is a very hardworking. And if you’re suggesting that I should’ve first let Sabir make a smaller film then let me say I don’t make small films. I’ve dreamt 70mm dreams from before that format was invented.”

Recently, the producer has been signing a lot of new directors.

“After a lot of introspection, my company has decided that we need to continue making commercial films, but with a little deviation. That’s where my three new directors Sabir Khan, Siddharth Anand and Imtiaz Ali come in. They have the discipline of commercial cinema and the ability to take cinema further.

“Siddharth’s film, which will probably star Saif Ali Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, isn’t the routine candyfloss film. We start at the end of 2008. Siddharth wants to do something different. So do I. It’s a film set against Mumbai. It isn’t a dark film. But not frothy either.”

Imtiaz Ali will first direct a film for Saif’s production house.

“After that in March-April 2009 Imtiaz will make a film for me. I think his forte is romance. We’ll go by that. I’d like to take a little risk with the successful directors though.”

Pushing the envelope isn’t seen as a healthy trend in some quarters of Bollywood, if we go by the opposition to Ashutosh Gowariker’s “Jodhaa Akbar”.

“No,” protested Nadiadwala. “I think ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ was commercially viable from the start. Not a single critic questioned Gowariker for making the film. The promos weren’t that good. But in five-six places in the film we stood up and clapped.”

Asked how he picks his directors, Nadiadwala said: “I don’t look at the directors’ success graph. In 2006, I gave a break to Shirish Kunder in ‘Jaan-e-Mann’ when he was a film editor. In 2008, I took on Sajid Khan, who had no background in movies. In fact, he was a stand-up comedian and a critic. To put a commercial Rs.450 million project on his shoulders needed some guts and vision.

“Though ‘Jaan-e-Mann’ didn’t do well, I’m proud of it. My biggest blunder was to release it alongside another big commercial film, ‘Don’. It was one of the biggest blunders of my career. I failed with my release strategy. I take full responsibility.”

He becomes introspective.

“This is my 54th year in the industry. I must’ve inherited the filmy genes from my father. I do feel alone. I wish I had a sibling or a partner. My son is just a child. Yes, I’ve a first-cousin Feroz Nadiadwala who’s also a very successful producer. I did work with him for two years. But we chose to work separately.”

Why not direct a film?

“I do a lot of homework on all the scripts that I produce. But I’m too sensitive and shy to instruct a hundred people on the set. I won’t be able to shoot with an actor I don’t like. I’m an escapist in real life. Maybe I can direct a good escapist entertainer.”

Popular actress Priyanka Chopra and Indian cricketer Sreesanth were at a press conference to promote Lux strawberry flavored soaps.

Wait a minute … all this ‘Sreesanth and Priyanka are in love’ telephonic conversation circulating in the media is just a gimmick to promote Lux soaps?

Probably it is true because the invite said that it was a press conference addressed by Priyanka Chopra and Sreesanth, and there was no indication of Lux soaps. Well, I did not expect such cheap publicity stunts from a trusted brand like Lux.

"It's the silliest story Priyanka Chopra heard about herself

Priyanka Chopra rebuffed rumours that she has lost weight to play a model in Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion.

"It's the silliest story I've heard about myself in a long time.... on a par with the one about me being in Sydney with Harman Baweja for the New Year when I was actually shooting an ad in Bangkok," said Priyanka.

"Nobody has told me to do anything for the role in Fashion. Madhur Bhandarkar and I share great rapport. He didn't ask me to lose weight for the character," she added.

However, Priyanka has worked on herself for her next two roles as well.

"I always like to work on my character. That's why I work on one film at a time. For Fashion I opted for a toned body. I went on a health-conscious diet, though I didn't cut down on my food or anything. And I'll be using the same physique for my film with Karan Johar," she said.

"It's set on the beach of Miami. Imagine two months on the sun and sand and so the toned body would be just what the dietician ordered. But, sorry, I don't get into a bikini for Karan's film," Priyanka was firm.

Karan's film also features Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. Priyanka said she doesn't endorse anorexic figures.

"It isn't about getting thin at all. It's just about toning my body. I don't think you need to be reed-thin to be beautiful. I think Indian women look terrible when they try to get anorexic. We (Indian women) are naturally healthy. And by that I don't mean voluptuous," she said.

"But, yes, we've been given a certain kind of figure. We're well proportioned and aesthetically endowed in all the right places. And by getting exceptionally thin, we're going against nature."

Told that her co-star Kangana Ranaut is inherently reed-slim, Priyanka laughed: "Yes, but she loves her food. She just has her own individual body type. Kangana and I share plenty of health tips. We got along really well. I really think she's sweet.

Mandira is looking forward to her next project Mumbai Chakachak,

Till about a few years back, whenever there used to be a mention of cricket, there was just one name that popped up, Sachin Tendulkar. But this equation changed a couple of years back with the entry of the most 'unsuspected' player (off-field).

She was none other than Mandira Bedi, the original 'Shanti' of the Tellyland. She made national headlines with her anchoring of cricket shows, which was followed by a series of many others. She is back with the much awaited Rakesh Roshan's comedy flick Krazzy 4.

She said "It's a different kind of concept that Bollywood is going to witness. Even though I am not acting in the film, I am playing an 'anchor' in the film. In the sense, I play a visiting psychiatrist, who does her bit by introducing the four lead characters (Irrfan, Suresh, Rajpal and Arshad) by interviewing them."

On the professional front, besides Krazzy 4, Mandira is looking forward to her next project Mumbai Chakachak, wherein she plays the role of Anarkali, a character who believes in every possible social cause and eventually joins Rahul Bose.

On the personal front, she said that her husband Raj Kaushal (who was not keeping well for some time) is fine now and is working on a film project, details of which will be announced shortly.

Kajol performed a mind-blowing Salsa

Ajay Devgan and his beau, Kajol performed a mind-blowing Salsa for the number, 'Jee Le' in their forthcoming film, U, Me Aur Hum. But what remains under wraps till now, is that Kajol was indisposed during the shoot, but still managed to go thro' the intricacy of the dance steps and managed it to the 'T'.

Says a unit member, "We shot the song 'Jee le' on the cruise liner. Ashley Lobo has done the choreography. Once while performing the number in the evening, Kajol had to leap down from the upper deck and during the leap, she badly sprained her ankle, thanks to her five-inch heels! But despite that, she took some painkillers and shot the very next day for the same shot with full bravado!"

The source also adds, "Kajol is such is a professional and listened to the director before dancing for this number. Plus Ajay too was very calm and composed and encouraged Kajol to give her best"

Ajay says, "I wanted a salsa for the song because that was the requirement of the script. It was an expensive shoot - more than 100 dancers and we had a crowd of about 600 people on the cruise. First we decided what the requirement of the script was and then Vishal made the salsa number. It was highly brave and professional of her to finish the shoot despite her bad leg injury."

Great going Kajol, hope to see an awesome on screen chemistry between U and Ajay in this song!!

Kareena still cares a lot for Shahid

If Saif Ali Khan can do it, why shouldn't Kareena Kapoor? According to reports, Saif called his ex-girlfriend Rozzaa Catalano several times on her birthday last month. On Monday, Bebo called ex-beau Shahid to wish him on his birthday.

Says a source close to Kareena, "Though Shahid and Kareena have parted, they have kept in touch with each other. Kareena remembered his birthday on February 25 this year and called to wish him. When she spoke to him, he was in Goa with close friends, Ahmed Khan and Lovely Singh. Bebo wished him and then they continued to talk for sometime. The conversation flowed very easily, just like in the past, when they used to have long chats."

Though they aren"t lovers anymore, Kareena still cares a lot for Shahid and remains concerned about his career and is often in touch with mutual friends to find out how his career's progressing. Kareena is currently shooting for Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns.

Kajol's U Me Aur Hum

The first time Ajay saw Pia, she served him drinks. She affected him more than the alcohol, and he found true love. He was a leading psychiatrist, but she messed up his mind.

The first time Pia saw Ajay, he had too much to drink. She watched him make a fool of himself, and was relieved when he passed out. She was a woman who followed her heart, but despite his claims of true love, she had made up her mind.

Thus began the story of Ajay and Pia.

A love story, that begins at sea. Ajay is on a cruise with his friends – Nikhil and Reena, unhappily married, and Vicky and Natasha, happily unmarried. Ajay is having a wonderful time dealing with martial strife, lots of bad language and huge hangovers, when he finds Pia, and time stands still.

After a disastrous first meeting, Ajay tries everything to woo her. He wants her, by hook, crook or even her little private notebook. She's not an easy catch at all, but finally, by sheer perseverance, he dances his way into her heart.

Ajay and Pia develop a strong and special bond. In each other, they find an anchor. But the tide goes against them. Weighted down by lies and deceit, their boat is rocked, and their relationship drowns.

But even oceans cannot keep true love apart. Against better sense, Ajay waits for Pia. In Pia's case, better case prevails, and she comes back to him. With no doubt in their minds about the way they feel for each other, they rush into marriage, despite the advice and failing relationships of their friends.

Happy marriages begin when we marry the ones we love, and they blossom when we love the ones we marry. And Ajay Pia, love each other dearly, and their marriage flourishes, setting an example for their friends.

But no marriages can be complete without problems, and Ajay and Pia have also have to face hurdles, some of which seem insurmountable. We are taught in school how to do sums, how to read and write, and how to conduct scientific experiments, but what do we really know about the greatest social experiment of all, namely our ability to keep the love alive in our marriage, especially in the face of crises?

But even as things get much worse, and sometimes unsolvable, Ajay and Pia don't give up. They realize that marriage is not a ritual or an end. It is a long, intricate, intimate dance together and nothing matters more than your own sense of balance and your choice of partner. And Ajay and Pia are used to dancing together.

So they battle all odds, and dance, and sometimes they fall. But every time they fall, they fall in love. And that's what a successful marriage requires. Falling in love many times, always with the same person.

This is the special love story of Ajay and Pia. There may be no monuments dedicated to them and perhaps their names will soon be forgotten. But in one respect they succeed as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: They've loved each other with all their heart and soul; and in life and marriage, this has always been enough.

Kareena will wear Bikini inTashan Yash Raj Film

Yash Raj Films is all set to kick off the year 2008 in splendid style through “TASHAN”. The movie directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who was the screenplay & dialogue writer of mega hits like “Dhoom”, its sequel “Dhoom:2” and “Guru”, marks the return of one of the most loved on-screen pairs of Bollywood- Akshay Kumar & Saif Ali Khan.

With TASHAN, even Anil Kapoor makes a comeback to Yash Raj banner after a long gap of 15 years. His last film with the banner was “Lamhe” (1992), which also starred Sri Devi, Waheeda Rehman & Anupam Kher. The movie will also have Kareena Kapoor playing a very glamorous role. She will play the romantic interest of Akshay and Saif in the movie.

Akshay Kumar & Saif Ali Khan had a spate of successes, the biggest being Yash Raj’s very own “Yeh Dillagi”(1994) & director Sameer Malkan’s “Main Khiladi Tu Anaari” (1994). Apart from this, the pair was seen together in “Tu Chor Main Sipahi” (1996), “Keemat” (1998) and “Aarzoo” (1999). Saif has already been a regular with Yash Raj (“Hum Tum”, “Salaam Namaste” and the much recent “Ta Ra Rum Pum”), but Akki’s last flick with them was “Dil to Pagal Hai” (1998).

Anil Kapoor will be seen playing a negative role in the film. Although, he has played characters with negative shades but it would be his first role as a villain.

Director Vijay Krishna Acharya, also known as “Victor”, has journeyed from films to television to films. He became assistant to Kundan Shah on “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa” starring Shah Rukh Khan. Then he moved to television and scripted non-formulaic serials like “Son Pari”, “Just Mohabbat” and the popular “Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi” (he was the creative & story supervisor for the first 260 episodes). But he couldn’t resist himself and returned to big screen while lending his credits to “Dhoom”, “Dhoom:2”, “Pyaar Ke Side Effects” and “Guru”. TASHAN would be his debut as a director.

Halla Bol is a war-cry used to create an awakening.

A small town god-fearing soul, a simpleton, Ashfaque Khan(Ajay Devgan), acts in street plays to bring about social awakening and also chases his dream to become a film star. Siddhu (a strident Pankaj Kapur) is his director & mentor while Sneha (Vidya Balan) is his love interest.

Destination Mumbai….the struggle. Finally, he gets his first break in movies after sacrificing his one rule in life “not to lie”. Sameer Khan, a star is born! Along with glory of stardom comes endorsements, wealth and splendor. Soon, he crosses the line of morality, by taking on double standards, arrogance, conceit. At one of the Page 3 parties, he witnesses the murder of Rashmi Sahni, an upcoming actress, by the sons of powerful politicians. Everyone keeps quiet as they let the culprits walk away. So does Sameer Khan.

The shock of witnessing the murder stirs his “zameer” and propels him back to his “Halla Bol” days. He names the killers and is promptly targeted by the goons working for the “moneybags” (Gaikwad and a Mallya lookalike). This results in mass hysteria and the common man then takes to the streets, slogans etc.

Brilliant performances by the lead actors & crisp, hard-hitting dialogues are the highlights of the film

The movie may not exactly set the cash registers ringing. Nevertheless, it is a sincere attempt by Rakjumar Santoshi to convey a strong social message and definitely needs to be applauded.

30 October 2007 (Sawf News) - Bollywood debutante Deepika Padukone finds it flattering that she is being compared with Aishwarya Rai and admits to having followed the former Miss World's career closely and taken inspiration from it to enter Bollywood.

"She is someone I have grown watching. I've been watching her ever since she won the Miss World. And she is partly responsible for me wanting to get into this industry," she told CNN-IBN.

Incidently Deepika made her debut in films playing a lead role in a Kannada film titled Aishwarya.

Deepika's first Bollywood film, Om Shanti Om, is set to premier November 8 at the Empire Cinema in London's Leicester Square and she admits to being nervous, anxious and a bundle of nerves, but in all probabilities is confident that with Shah Rukh Khan helming the project and playing the lead she has little to fear.

The 21-year-old plans to wear a dress by designer Manish Malhotra for the London premier.

"I will definitely be wearing Manish Malhotra. He is someone whose style I admire and it suits me a lot. He has styled the entire film for me and there is no one else I would go with for the premiere," she says.

Oh! We agree sweetheart, but doubt Vidya Balan would agree with that assessment.

Deepika is unfazed by the media comparison between her and debutant Sonam Kapoor whose film Saawariya is also slated for a Diwali release.

Commenting on the clash of the two big budget films she says:

"I'm sure they have also worked as hard as we have so I would like to wish them all the best."
